Hi, I would be grateful for some advice. I had a new cambelt fitted on my car a couple of months ago and was told at the time that there was an oil leak nearby which would need further investigation. I took the car in yesterday for this to be looked at and was told that the part that was leaking was a seal on the camshaft, or something like that. - sorry am no expert - £800 plus to fix it as it is a five hour job, which necessitates the fitting of a further new cambelt.
All understood, but what I am seeking an opinion on is wouldn't a leak on the camshaft have been obvious at the time they fitted the cambelt in June? Obviously they found a leak but didn't identify the source. If a five hour job to strip the car down to replace the cambelt then didn't show up the cause of the leak I'm not sure how a £65 investigation yesterday revealed the problem so easily?
Many thanks in advance
