Corsa Sxi A/C Head Gasket Leak

Hi Guys,

I noticed my car popped up with the overheating symbol twice. So since that I took it to the garage and they said it was a leak from the head gasket.

They have advised me to get a re conditioned engine and not to change the head gasket as its a timing chain a change of head gasket would need skimming and cause the chain to slack.

Would it be worth trying the new head gasket as its a lot cheaper option?

They have costed new head gasket at £900 but new recondition engine around £2000. Location, Birmingham
