Hi all, I have joined this site as really need some advice. Took my car to be serviced at a local garage, they charged me £700 for quite a lot of work which probably did need doing, this included the timing belt. Just before the service/repairs I had also started getting the engine system fault which I believe is well known for these Fords. After the service, they scanned the car but couldn't really tell me what the error was so reset and said come back if it carries on. The car started idling again and not starting so I took it to a Ford dealer as I had read it could be a whole range of problems and didn't want to spend money fixing the wrong thing. Ford looked and said they could see the timing belt had been changed along with auxillary as they looked brand new, but the aux belt was ripped to shreds. They said either a loose water pump (which has to be moved to get to the belt) with 2 bolts missing on top of the belt was to blame or it was the wrong size belt. I am now going to have to pay ford for scanning and looking at the vehicle. The original garage have agreed to look at it and I will expect them to fix the issue FOC. However should I expect them to pay the costs I incurred taking the car to Ford too as I am now even more out of pocket due to their error?? TIA
