Key is stuck in ignition as the system appears to not be recognising the gear stick is in "P" position. The "P" flashes on the dashboard (in all other positions, the "D" or "R" is constantly lit for example). I get the audible alarm beeping and the ignition key won't come out. The owners handbook says this is what happens when gear stick is not in "P". Internet says Manufacturers installed this "safety fix" when people got knocked over by open doors when they got of vehicle without putting auto transmission in "Park".
It is Bank Holiday weekend and I need this car for driving to station for work so need to be able to get the key out to lock the car to get the train.
Any suggestions please how to fix this before getting it to a garage to fix permanently?
