Long distance motorway drive shortly after passing test

Hello all! I'm new to this forum, I thought it would be the best place for some decent advice from drivers.

I'm 22, and admittedly a little late on learning to drive due to financial reasons. After working hard and saving up, I took the plunge and began to learn to drive in February. I loved driving from the beginning, and picked it up very fast. I've had a few blips and scares, including changing instructors halfway through, but I expect that's all part of learning.

My test is booked very soon, and shortly after I plan to drive myself to uni in Kent. I've been ready for my test for some time; the main thing that has prevented me was the money, since I also bought my own car and have been insuring myself on it and practicing in it since March.

The thought of driving for 4 hours on a motorway genuinely never daunted me until recently. I enjoy driving, and have always been confident and tried not to let mistakes get me down or frighten me. However, a few people have told me doing that kind of driving so soon after passing is a silly idea and essentially asking to cause an accident. Now that they've put the idea in my head, I'm starting to doubt whether it's a good idea or not.

I have planned the logistics of this trip for a good while, so I have a back up plan if I don't pass first time. If I do, I plan to follow my boyfriend up to Kent and use a sat nav so not knowing the route doesn't make me nervous.

The only person who has told me it isn't a silly idea is my boyfriend. He's a little biased though, seeing as his first ever drive after passing was driving his first car back from London on the motorway!

I honestly feel like if I pass, there's no good reason to put off doing the kind of journeys I'll have to do eventually anyway. That in honesty would make my nerves worse.

Do you think it's a bit ambitious to expect myself to do this? Do you have any tips on long distance or motorway driving for a new driver?
