Ford Focus 2006 Intermittent P060C Fault - won't start when hot.

P060C Internal Control Module Main Processor Performance - Ford Focus 2006 1.6LX

Hi.

I have a 2006 (06) Mark 2 Ford Focus 1.6L LX.

Not long back, it stalled whilst I was reverse parallel-parking in the rain. It then threw up an error (EM light, red cog, exclamation mark) and wouldn't start for about 10 minutes.

Ever since then, on the odd occasion and almost always when hot (long journey etc.) - it does the same - once i've turned it off and try to turn it back on again, it turns over but won't ignite. But once i've left for five minutes, all is well.

I borrowed a mate's diagnostic computer (he's not a mechanic, he just loves gadgets) and we've narrowed the fault code down to P060C and i've been advised it MAY be a loose wire in the ECU by a mechanic-mate over the phone.

My questions are two-fold:

1. Generally, what do you think this could be, given the symptoms?

2. If it's ECU - how likely is it to be wiring (considering it's intermittent) and if it's a full ECU replacement job, how much am I looking at for a part? (I'm keen to avoid dealers, I know plenty of mechanics who could fit this part and I don't fancy paying their mark up and diagnostic fees).

Thanks

C
