Hi, im new to this forum but would like to bring to everyones attention a serious problem i am having with an approved RAC contractor, WESTON RECOVERY SERVICES, ST GEORGES, WESTON SUPER MARE BS22 7XS, 01934 517021, especially the owner ROBERT HOPKINS.
The problem is not with RAC in anyway but i would like to bring to everyones attention the sort of companies that can pretend to be reputable when in fact they are bordering on criminal!
Nearly 2 years ago i put my jaguar into them to have the engine replaced (this i supplied and they agreed to fit the engine) whilst in there they informed me it needed several other "bits" doing to it including a new dual mass flywheel and clutch, at the time of the phone call i was not thinking straight due to my ongoing illness and agreeded to the new clutch, only later did i realise the car had just had a clutch fitted several months before!.
On several occasions i questioned this and asked for the old clutch back so i could return it for a warranty refund only to be told "we will have to dig it out" or "im too busy right now" and so began a very long and heated to say the least battle with them.
The final bill for the work done was £2307.75 of which i had already payed £1000, eventually i gave up and we both agreed to a further £1000 to settle the bill, this i have in writing from them via email on their letterheaded paper, several times both i and my local garage (on my behalf) tried to settle the bill and collect the car only to be told "no, you cant have the car, its in the hands of our legal department".
AS A FURTHER NOTE ON THE INVOICE I HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR 4LTRS OF ATF FLUID, MY CARS HAS A MANUAL GEARBOX HENCE THE NEW CLUTCH WHY DO I NEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID!!!
as a final attempt to retrieve my car i went to their premises only to have the police called on me (they also have the local contract with the police i believe) and i was asked to leave the premises and told if i returned i would be arrested, the only way i could now correspond was via email.
I have sent countless emails to them demanding an explanation for their actions, all with no reply, yesterday i had to get the police to intervene who now assure me a county court case has been started against me!
Please tell me im right! surely it should be i taking them to court! ive tried to pay the bill they agreed to and now they wont return the goods! IS THIS THE SORT OF COMPANY RAC WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH I ASK MYSELF.
