Hello, im really hoping I can get some help asap!
I have a 2003 1.6 Focus, about 6 months ago the engine developed a rattle, this happens on slight acceleration and only when the engine is warm. The rattle sounds like severe pinking and last approx. 2-4 seconds, while it rattles there is also a blue puff of smoke from the exhaust.
I decided that the engine was tired so I sourced a low mileage replacement and fitted it, happy days (at least I thought) the rattle is still present as is the blue smoke every time I gently accelerate once the engine has been running for around 10-15 mins.
There is no noises when the engine is revved, it ticks over sweet on idle and from a cold start there is no smoke or noises. The car drives fine and accelerates cleanly all the way up the rev range.
My thinking is that there is possibly a blockage somewhere causing higher than normal crank case pressure which is in turn causing the oil to be pushed into the inlet/cylinders.
I have carried out a compression check and all was fine, I have also replaced the PCV valve and the breather pipes under the inlet manifold.
