Hi,
Sorry for yet another Focus thread. I have searched and search, and have not come up with the answers that i am looking for. I will explain the problem i'm having, hopefully with a view that somebody can shed some light on the issue. I will apologise now for any waffle.
My car is a 2007 Ford Focus 1.8TDCI (115bhp). A while ago, i had the message 'Engine Systems Fault' come up on the display. There are no other warning lights, and at the time, there was no loss of power. When i turn my engine off and on again, the message dissapears.
Up until recently the car would run as normal, with no loss of power. Now however is a different story. The car takes forever to build up speed, but i have no warning messages saying that the car is in limp mode. and there doesn't appear to be a limitation of speed, apart from the fact that it takes forever to get anywhere.
I have changed the diesel filter for a new one, and unfortunately this hasn't made a difference. I took the car into a garage, and they put a code reader on, which found a fault code relating to the air mass sensor. As a result, i purchased a 'new' second hand genuine air mass sensor. I fit it, and it didn't make the car any better, or any worse. This in itself leads me to believe that both sensors are working as they should be, as there was no variation. The old part has since been put back onto the car.
The other day, i managed to get the 'Engine Systems Fault' message to come up on demand. When i'm going down a slip road, in 3rd/4th and the revs hover around 3500rpm, the message comes up. I flick the ignition off and on to remove it, do the same with the revs, and it comes up again.
I'm really starting to lose patience with the car now, as i dont really want to spend £1000's on it where i dont have to. The car has recently been serviced. This includes a new air filter, oil filter, oil change and now a diesel filter.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Mark.
