Intermittent Powertrain Warning Light Ford Focus 1.6 petrol LX

Hi,

Strange one this.

I bought a second hand (one-owner, full service history, Full service and MOT etc.) 2006 Mk2 Ford Focus 1.6 Petrol from an Evans Halshaw garage in Chester. Marvellous car, but it has developed a strange fault.

About 3 weeks ago whilst reversing I stalled the car. The Powertrain Warning light came on and the car wouldn't start. After fruitless attempts for about 5 minutes, I got nothing. Then, when left to stand for a little while, it was fine, light went off, amazing.

Then just this morning (06 August 2015) it did it again, only this time when not reversing, just when turning the engine off and on again, but I did manage to get it to turn over and start to get it home. Once I got home, I turned the engine off and it simply wouldn't turn over again for a good five minutes.

So I left it rest for half an hour this time, whilst scouring these forums, I went back outside and boom, started first time with all the usual noises and did so for 3 attempts.

I'm dumbfounded as I can't seem to find anyone with the same problems, there's plenty with the Powertrain warning light, but noone seems to have the same starting issues.

Any ideas?
