hello, please help me understand what needs to be done.
i have an old vw polo insured third party and theft, i was hit in the rear bumper by someone and the driver got all the responsability.
now the insurance of the fault driver payed me the money for the car telling is category c writte off, i recived the check and also i keep the salvage, the car is in almost perfect shape, just the rear bumper it has some scratches and the iron underneath is bent inside and the hood doesn't closes perfectly but all the lights are working properly, breaks, engine and everything, now my questions.

car has MOT till september and road tax until april, the police let me drive away from the accident as the car is drivable but is it legal to drive it now?
if not, why not and how to make it legal?

i am 99% percent sure that the car will pass any MOT test because it wasn't affected mechanical just cosmetic and was wriitten off just because the bumpers and other stuff behind the bumper are expensive to buy brand new then the value of the car
, should i go make another MOT or use this one? i have the V5 logbook and MOT copy that says it expires on 22 september.
i check also only and the card says it is taxed and MOTéd but has VIC marker on it so before i will sell it anytime in future i need to vic check it so the new owner will have V5 sent to him but i don;t want to sell it, i am sure it gone pass MOT and also i can renew road tax because i have the v5 also the insurance since is not comprehensive it is just THIRD PARTY FIRE AND THEFT should keep going as usual right?

am i missing something? can i keep the car like this? what is to be done? i love this car and changed a lot of things on it to make it in top shape right after i bought it so now i don;t want to loose it and but other to start all over again
