Hi,
I've had an intermittent problem with the brake lights on my car for a while now. It's recently gotten a lot worse and with 2 days until my MOT I'm tearing my hair out!
The car in question is a 60 plate Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.25 manual petrol. I believe there is a loose connection somewhere in the lighting circuit. What happens is either one of the side brake lights will stop working completely (tail lights unaffected). The bulb is always intact although I have tried changing them several times. No amount of pushing or twisting the bulb will make it light up but as I realised when I despairingly hit the brake light panel, giving it a good hard slap will bring it back! This week the driver's side light has broken 3 times, but the fault is not isolated to this side. I have access to buy virtually any part at trade prices and am fairly competent at repairs - any ideas what might be going on?
A swift response would be appreciated, as I will be absolutely stunned if it passes its MOT in its current state.
