A young friend of mine was involved in a minor accident and wonders whether he needs to report it to his insurer, although he intends to pay for the repair himself.
Whilst in 1st gear he bumped into a van from behind causing virtually no damage to the van but received a dent in his own bonnet.
Out of courtesy & worry he swapped Insurance details with the van driver, who apparently didn't seem particularly bothered.
If my friend doesn't report the accident and the Van driver decides to claim, will my friend be in trouble with his insurers?
If my friend reports the accident even though he is paying for the repair on his own car himself and the van driver doesn't claim, will my friend lose his no claims bonus on future policies?
