Hi, I need advice and also want to warn people regarding the car dealers called Mallard Cars in minster kent, we bought a car 4 weeks ago, was told to ignore a warning light on the dash as it had not been cleared and the problem was a old one that had been repaired, i decided to have the tires checked anyway just to be safe, 2 bald to the metal thread tyres and one Tyre completely rotted, so i bought 4 new tyres at the cost of £250, i rung the dealership and told him, he replied not sure if we cover tyres let me check and get back to you, we heard nothing, we carried on driving, and wrote the cost off, then the real problems started, the car did not feel right, it had a knocking noise and was pulling on the steering, i had to do a emergency stop the brakes seized up, so in the garage it went, while up on the ramp, off comes the tyres and surprise the brakes completely disintegrated, the drums, pads, plates, everything, just fell to pieces, then upon further inspection we were shown that the steering rod was damaged and had to be replaced, and the arms and bushes, all in 1100, car is a mercedes 200slk i decided then to have a mot and full check while it was there and to also investigate the superb fsh that was provided, we rang the number provided on all the stamps and surprise, they did not know the car! then to add to my joy the car showed 15 fault codes that had been cleared on the computer but the work had never been done!! and the final insult the car failed its MOT as the exhaust is damaged and we cannot get one in the uk so we have one ordered on backlog, and the brake lines were perished and leaking fluid!! this has added a further £550 to the bill, we were in constant contact with the car dealer but he no longer returns our calls, we have now found out the car dealers is not registered at company house and has no VAT no, we was told bring the parts and we will pay the bill when we told him the costs so far his response was he was going to smash the mechanics head in so i gave him the name and contact details of the reputable and established garage he never did ring them the mechanics were chomping at the bit to tell him exactly what they thought of his reputable and excellent quality cars!!, we know we are not going to see a penny, we have contacted trading standards have photos, 2 reports and are ready to go to court, but guess what the mans name is on nothing!! so before you consider buying a car from this man which he says is dave, remember you have to put your children in that vehicle, just like we did oblivious to the fact that it was a complete danger, and AVOID this little con merchant like the plague!!
