My alternator warning light has come on a few times recently. I went for a battery test and it failed (I'd had other symptoms such as; clock resetting, and I had left my car for long periods of around 3mth apiece without starting it).
Since the battery test I've seen my warning light regularly, but it comes and goes. I can drive anything from 1 min to 60 minutes before I see the light, and it can be on for as little as 1 minute, or 40 minutes is the max I have seen it on for. It clears when I restart my engine.
I went back to halfords (yeah I know, not my best choice) and had my new battery tested and it passed, as did the alternator test. I've managed to convince myself it's the sensor at fault.
Is there anything I can do? Bit of a car novice, I can follow instructions to change a bulb etc.
