Really hoping someone will give me advice and will try to be brief! My Vauxhall Insignia 2010 cdti 130 would not star approx. 6 weeks ago. It has now been at local Vauxhall Dealers for 4 weeks whilst I argue the situation. Basically they tell me that the crankshaft has moved, the pulley has sheared off requiring £580 to put an new cambelt kit crankshaft gear bolt etc on it! They have then informed me that this could be the start of the problems as until they do this they do not know the extent of the damage i.e the engine could be completely damaged .... I spoke to Vauxhall who have been far from helpful and wanted details of exactly what had caused the damage. This eventually arrived a week later in the form of a mechanics jot pad and I couldn't read it!! They are refuting all responsibility! The car is 5 years old and has done 57000 miles. I have owned the car since it was 8 months old and am fully aware that car maintenance costs money. If it was a case of £580 to solve the problem I probably would have paid it but the thought that it could run into thousands and I wont even know till the 1st bits done is why I have tried finding more about the problem. I have been told that the woodruff key has broken off. Several forums are mentioning that this could have been a design fault in the early Insignia?? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as I really do no nothing about cars! Thanks
