In the past you would get a friendly word in your ear from a passing bobby if you stopped (not in traffic) but remained in your car ("parked") and left your headlights on. Nowadays it is very common to come across this situation, this can be particularly annoying if the vehicle you come across is facing you on your side of the road. Although we do not get the pea soupers of fogs that we used to there could be other situations where you could be tempted to pass the vehicle on the wrong side? Anyway they interfere with vision of the area behind them. Any thoughts?
