I've got a 2.0L Mondeo, diesel 54 plate with 83000 miles, since purchasing I've experienced some problems with my heating system - engine was overheating and fans were blowing cold air in to car when it should have been warm. I was also losing water/coolant and was assured that it wasn't being lost out of the exhaust by a mechanic
I've had a test done for Co2 gas in expansion tank and came back negative so I have since had the thermostat and water pump changed and this has alleviated the problem in that I now get warm air in if the revvs are above 1500 rpms however thats obviously not working properly, lastly I noticed a gurgling noise when I stopped the engine a few times now - I noticed that some water had been lost out of the expansion tank overflow valve, so I think the water has been expanding and I've been losing water out of that... I'm at the stage where I'm at the end of the road with this car and just need to know if it's head gasket and if so I need to get rid
