I saw a report that some insurers are offering up to 12½ discount to drivers who have a dash cam. I am always sceptical about these reports but it does seem that this might well be true.
I think that anyone who does a lot of urban driving would be well advised to fit one anyway and Halfords have one for under £50 although it is by no means the best available.
A recent post by a lady involved in a collision with a lorry illustrated the benefit, even though it did demonstrate the opposite result to the one she wanted. There are many many youtube videos which show the results of these devices.
The news report linked to this company, (part of AXA) but I have no idea if they are any good, or whether the discount is a good deal. http://www.swiftcover.com/carinsurance/dashcams/
