Recovery Woes 07/10/13

After breaking down with a low pressure oil warning (those of you with 2005- 2007 2.0TDi VAG longitudal engines beware) on Ascot high street, very handy for rolling into the garage with engine off I called RAC and informed them of the fault, I called RAC and was told a patrolman would be there within the hour, all was good so far.

The Patrolman turned up informing me there was a reported engine managment problem, I told him it wasn't as was low oil pressure, it is a common fault with VAG 2.0TDI engines (oil pump pulley spindle rounds off giving no oil pressure and ENGINE MUST NOT BE RUN!!! or more damage will be caused) I informed the Patrolman of this while he insisted the engine must be turned over, despite me telling him not to he started the engine, he let it run until the warning light re-appeared and then switched it off with me still protesting.

I had organised a specialist VAG independent garage within the 10 mile radius however the Patrolman seemed unwilling to take my vehicle there, suggesting a RAC approved garage instead, he enventually convinced me to go to the garage he suggested. When we arrived at the garage i was asked to go into the garage and give the operator my details while he dropped the car off, I observed via the security cameras the Patrolman start my vehicle despite being told not to! and reverse it into a car parking space. He then left and I booked my car in seething!!!!!
The following day the garage phoned stating "it was too big and complex job" for them, I phoned the RAC and managed to get the car delivered to a garage of my choice within close proximity, I recieved a bill of over £1600 for the damage to the vehicle, this included new pulley, pump and spindle which was expexcted, plus replacement turbo, new tappets and labor due to the severe lack of oil pressure which is contributed directly to the Patrolman starting the vehicle on a number of occassions, i have contacted the RAC directly with my complaint and the only reply I have received states the do not recognise the registration number of the car WJ56 OJM, I have replied giving them all my details and a possible alternative registration number WJ 56 OLM but still have not received any further response after nearly twenty years of using RAC i am dumbfounded at the poo customer response.

This post hopefully may receive some response?
