hi, this is a bit long winded but, I bought a car in July this year. It had 800 miles on the clock, and yes, I did test drive it. But, it was the first automatic car I had ever driven, after 30 years of manuals. So i really concentrated on that, rather than anythign else. Also, I had had the same car previously, so knew the car and liked it (obviously).
I didnt really notice until I actually bought it, how soft the seat was compared to my old one, which was very firm and great for me, as I have an iffy neck and need firmness.
I tried it a few weeks and the other issue was that the seat seemed to be sloping to the left. Eventually, after a few visits to my local dealer, we did find a fault with the base of the seat, so that was replaced. It did help but not enough and especially not with the softness of the back of the seat. The dealer had another car same model in stock (older) but where the seat was firm. I drove it, and it was great, like my old one. So they agreed to swap the seat (Head office paid the labour for it, as I had said all along, the seat was not right), and I had it re-covered as the seat was worn looking compared to mine. The seat now i find, is like sitting against a hard wall, there is no give at all in it, so it is really uncomfortable.
I know the dealer did not do anything to the seat, but it may be that when it was re-covered, that the new material pulled it all in tighter and made it feel firmer.. Not sure if that is even possible.
I could see if they get another car in, pay the labour myself to swap.. but that could be ages off. I am SO cross with myself, as I had been offered a swap with another car, drove it for two minutes and yes it seemed fine, but as i had driven the other one for longer, thought i had better stick with that.
you know how you cannot get over, making that one bad decision :-(
So... what are anyone's views on how this seat I now have is TOO firm and is there anything I can do? will it give, I dont do a lot of mileage, but what I do do, has to be comfortable.
I have even considered just getting a new seat but that is SO expensive, and to be honest, it is the same cost to buy a newer car.
Just would like thoughts, and what maybe I could do.. it is taking over all my thoughts cos of the costs, and my muck up
thank you
