Third party insurance repair

Hi
Could with some advice please. A few days ago a car bumped into the back of mine having himself being bumped by another car in slow moving traffice. I notified my insurer and then I received a meassage from the insurance company of the guy who was at fault saying they wanted to arrange repair of my car (his was a company car). Having not been in this scenario before I was unsure whether to call back and arrange the repair with the third party insurer or pursue the claim with my insurance company. I spoke to my insurer who said it was my choice. My concern about going through my insurer which would mean having to pay out £150 excess, although likely to get back as other driver accepted liabilty, and losing NCD. So I decided to go through the third party insurer. However, my partner has since looked at the car and although intially the damage looks minor he has pointed out they my right it off as it will require a new bumper and there is possible further damage. It is a 2007 sreetka so not worth a great deal, however, I would not want to lose it as I have spent a fair bit on repairs. So do I now go through my insurance company - even if they decided to write it off am I in a better position dealing with it through my own company?
Both have contacted me today but I don't know what to do. Help please.
