Have a bit of an issue.. Was reversing from outside a shop and as I was about to drive off the man near the car next to me ran out to me and accused me of hitting his car. Even before I got out of my car, I was certain I hadn't as I'd heard no scrape or felt no contact and had been able to continue reversing backwards around behind his car to then drive off. I had a passenger in the car on the side that I apparently made contact who also felt or heard no contact at all.
There was a very minor scrape towards the top of the wheel arch of the car, no denting or anything else and it didn't look like it had just been done.. My car is red and his had no red paint where the scrape was at all, it. There was also no scrape anywhere on the back end of my car where I could have possibly caused it that matched up or had any scrapped paint on, I had a good look under good light when I got home.
We swapped registration numbers, names and phone numbers and I took a picture of the scrape on his car although it was quite dark but now I don't know where I stand. I'm 99.9% certain there was no contact and that this scrape was already there. I don't know whether to hold fire and see if I'm contacted or contact my insurance to explain the same I have here..
Anyone with any advice on what to do and where I stand?
