I have a driving assessment next Wednesday and would like to know what to expect. I've read there is more to it than just driving. I know an eyesight is involved I've heard that there is also a vision field test to see if u can see a wide enough area is this true and what does it involve? What other things does assessment involve other than the obvious driving? When do they tell you if you can drive afterwards? I've heard it may not be that day.
At the moment I am allowed to drive. In 2012 I had a serious car accident was actually very lucky to even survive let alone fully recover like I have. I informed the DVLA as I had a serious head injury they took over a year to decide I need a driving assessment but for now I am allowed to drive. This makes no sense at all to me as surely an assessment is to show if I'm safe to drive or not so if I wasn't safe to drive I shouldn't be driving. It's common sense. As I say I have been driving and am fine with it or I wouldn't risk it. I am using driving to get more practice to make sure I pass assessment. What sort of things will they be looking for in the driving part? My mum says stuff like slowing down early enough which is something I sometimes do leave slightly late. Not so I have to do emergency stop but sometimes need to brake bit harder than I should. This is something I've always done but would the assessor put it down to not reacting enough? What about mirror checks like while driving before signalling and stuff.
