Is this following scenario worth contesting in court.
I was clocked by a mobile speed camera on a dual carriage way doing 79
The police said If I was In a car I would be eligible to do a awareness course but because As I was driving a commercial vehicle it was restricted to 60 on this road.
The vehicle is a small fiat scudo van I was converting into a vw style day van. I had already fitted the seats in the rear and had it insured as a private car.
I was unaware that it was restricted to 60 on certain roads & that I had to inform DVLA that I intended to change its classification.
I had not had chance to put windows in it, but nobody was travelling in the back as I was camping with my 2 kids at the time. I use the van to carry there bikes etc.
One letter said I was doing 79 mph another letter said I was doing 80 why is this?
When I insured the van with a specialist insurer & told them what I planning they insured it as a private car even they didn't know about changing its classification.
