unfortunately my daughter misjudged a tight turn into our shared back yard and caught the rear bumper of the neighbours 63 plate polo. the damage is minor - about a square centimetre off paint has com off and some surface scratching, and I believe it could be repaired by autorestore for under £200 ( awaiting their quote). their work is guaranteed for life. we wanted to try and avoid going through the insurance, especially because it's my daughter's first year of driving, and we all know how expensive that is. the neighbour is insisting on having a new bumper from the VW garage at a cost of £937. my question is, would the insurance definitely replace the bumper if an invisible repair is do much cheaper? if they would replace then it is probably I'm my interest long term just to stump up. any advice would be appreciated.
