Peugeot 107. Stretched Timing Chain. Sudden and catastrophic failure possible?

Hi. Background. I've got a 2006 Peugeot 107 1.0 3 stroke engine. Over the last fee months it's been rattling a little but it got worse. And the engine light came on.

It has a stretched timing chain. It drives ok. A bit sluggish in low revs but gets more lively as the car accelerates. I know the car is a goner but will the failure be a sudden break down or a gradual worsening of the engine.

I really want a new car but I'm not in a good place financially. I'm hoping it'll soldier on for a few more months until I pay off a loan and can afford to get a new one. Repairing it isn't really an option as it'll cost more than the car is worth.

Would people drive it? Or should it be parked up indefinitely! Any help appreciated.
