I bought a Peugeot 1007 ...2007 plate under 40000 miles for £1000. Was initially pleased with my purchase. 5 weeks after sale the clutch started to slip and I returned to the garage and was told I would have to replace it myself and was sent along to a mechanic for advice (friend of trader). The mechanic told me nothing was wrong with the clutch which was absolute nonsense. I then did not drive the car for several weeks as I was worried the clutch would fail on the motorway. The car was due in for mot and being a responsible person I always put the car in early for a pre mot to make me aware of any issues. As the car was put on the ramps I could see the spring was snapped. By the time the mot check was done there were repairs amounting to £625 just to make the car safe. This is a car that I drove young children around in constantly which the seller was very aware of. There were issues with a binding wheel, track rod end was in a rediculous mess, callipers needed replaced, wheel cylinders too, the brakes were faulty , the list goes on. I asked the trader to take the car back to which he replied not unless you drive it here , like I'm really going to risk my life. I asked about warranty as I was told 3 months or upto 1000 miles I was only days over the time limit but I was well within the milage limit. To this he responded what proof do you have. I had a black box in the car which counts every mile and was told by him no you have voided the warranty by having the black box fitted. I was then left to pay the repairs myself and replace the clutch. I attempted for several weeks to contact the trader and was asked for proof of repair receipts etc. I provided all of this for him to then use the image of my details on the receipts to put online as profile pics etc. This was extremely intimidating even after asking him to remove it he didn't. It cost me a thurther £50 for a lawyer to make contact with him to get my details removed. I am now beginning the simple procedure claim against him (small claims court). Is there a chance I can actually get my money back? This has caused me to be in way too much debt and to top it off some old man smashed into the back to the car and it has been scrapped.
