Crash where police were involved - am I at fault?

Hi I was driving along a duel carriage way doing around 35 in a 40, light at junction had
Not turned green so processing through, a police car shot a cross junction with lights, car in front slammed on (I feel they could have carried on) I slammed on and managed to swerved slightly but hit the rear left side of the car. Police stopped and one officer said it was a police incident so I wasn’t at fault but another said that it was as I went into the back of the other car. I understand that In almost all cases it’s the rear driver’s fault but due to these expectational circumstances do I have any chance of not taking the blame on this?
