Am I in the wrong?

On Saturday morning I was heading to the shop in my partners Audi Q7 I came to the end of the road and indecated right I looked nothing I edged out looked again nothing so I was pulling out this red car comes speeding out of no where up the road and took the side out of the car I automatically got my car to side of the road jumped out and asked if he was ok.
My driver door dented with a scuff on back passenger but his front bumper smashed his driver wing of door dented in and wouldn’t open he told me his car wouldn’t stop it slid (was a little rain) a did say you came flying out of no where and he’s like yeah yeh my car wouldn’t stop a said ur at fault speeding up their like a dafty he said yeah take my reg insurance sort it out a took his reg insisted on a phone number which he hesitated to give me but I managed but as I asked for his name he was eager to get away he said a need to get this car home insurance will deal with it and left like that!
I phoned the police and as I was doing that a police officer pulled up I told her what happened and I tried to phone the boy for his name and his phone was switched of she found it ify breathalysed me and went straight to his house to check him but she did say he could answer the door with a drink in his hand and it’s void! But she went and he wasn’t their she called round twice no answer left a card for a call back she left him voice messages nothing I then got a text from him next day asking my name and registration he has now filed a claim against me saying I pulled out in front of him!
But if I was to blame why didn’t he take any my details at the scene or call the police back? Help!
