Hi,
I recently bought a Nissan micra 2005 plate but left it off road for about two weeks. When I tried to go and drive it the central locking system wasnt working and I couldnt unlock the door. I then went through the passenger side and found that the car wasnt starting so charged the battery a bit and it then worked.
I have since not driven the car for about a week and the same thing has happened so I am currently charging my battery again (as I dont think we allowed it to fully charge last time).
However, Im a little confused as to whether this is the actual problem or not as when I try to switch the ignition to on, the key does not turn and its just in the lock position. My ignition has the following positions:
0 - LOCK
1 - blank (I assume this is just off)
2 - Acc (accessories)
3 - ON
4 - start
I understand that if my battery is dead this would affect my central locking hence why the key fob is not unlocking the doors? But would the battery being dead affect the fact that I cannot move the ignition from the LOCK position? Would this be a part of the central locking system or is there potentially an electrics problem or something else?
I did see that sometimes if the steering wheel is locked this could prevent the key from turning but I tried to wiggle the wheel whilst pushing the key forward and this still didnt work?
Thanks!
