Hello. I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some advise please.
I bought a well maintained Astra 1.7dti 3 months ago and it's been fine until late last week. The car starts fine but has a fair amount of white smoke, a few revs usually sorts that out. The issues usually starts when the car it warm and manifests in revs 'hanging' while changing gear (Vauxhall says it's an anti stall feature?) there's uneven tick-over which ranges from 850rpm to about 1000 rpm and my biggest concern is in traffic when crawling it does have a tendency to rev briefly to 1500rpm before settling down after 5 seconds or so?
The car has been into Vauxhall who have said it's probably the fuel pump, the cost is astronomical even thought they couldn't find a fault code associated with the fuel pump? My local garage has said Vauxhall are talking out of their bum because a car with 47,000 miles and fsh isn't likely to suffer this fate. He has suggested I grab 800ml (2 bottles) of Comma Diesel Magic run the fuel down to reserve, put the liquid in the tank and drive it hard through the gears for 20 minutes and then let it sit over night for the product to start breaking down the rubbish in the system. I've done that but the problem persists.
Not sure if it makes any difference but the car has had a new timing belt, auxilery belt, oil change 1,000 miles ago and a fresh fuel filter at the weekend. It's the Astra LS 1.7dti, year is 53.
Was wondering if anyone has experienced similar symptoms?
Thanks, Linda.
