On yesterday's BBC News, it was reported that Lord Willetts, its chair, has proposed a £10,000 "gift" to young people and pensioners be taxed - presumably to help pay for it. It seems that we pensioners are now too well off and this isn't fair to the youngsters. What poppycock.
As I look around me, unlike in our day, the youngsters want it all now, and without having to scrimp. I see young adults living at home, with fairly new cars, the latest mobile smart phones, and partying many nights throughout the whole week. Of course they cannot afford to save up to buy a home - they are spending it all in living for the moment. What does Willetts (sorry, can't be polite to him) think they would do with the £10,000? What a perverted, spiteful idea!!!
