2007 Zafira 1.9CDTi Auto Slow?

Hi,

This is my first post in the forum. A bit lost as to what to do with my 57 reg Auto Zafira.

Had a new radiator fitted about 8 months ago and noticed it was driving a little sluggishly after the job was completed. Obviously didn't get anywhere with the garage who tell me that there "is nothing wrong with it". Anyway since the job was done the power steering fluid is leaking under the radiator and the performance is terrible. The engine sounds very loud and a bit rumbly at times. I had the car serviced in Feb by Vauxhall and since then have also noticed rather oddly when taking a right turn in 2nd when the car tries to shift into 3rd it revs loudly and jolts forward before it finds the gear. This coincides with how the car seems to start and the gears change which seems to be different every time I start the car. Sometimes you can hear the engine being stretched by the gear changes (its still incredibly slow) and then other times it changing very smoothly. I had a spanner light on the dash a couple of weeks ago and diagnosed as P0400 EGR VALVE - I have changed the EGR valve and the light has gone off but apart from a slight performance increase still very much depends on how the car starts to how the car will drive. I haven't got any other lights on the dash and the gearbox will still allow me to use the manual mode. One other thing which I have noticed that didn't seem to happen before but as soon as the engine drops to 1500 RPM when you release the accelerator pedal it drops to idle so quickly I just watch the needle drop like the engine has cut out...

I am getting the feeling it could be the gearbox or (and) the ECU? I am obviously a bit tight with budget and judging by the shoddy work done by the garage (instead of removing the under cover they have just hacked it off in the corner where the radiator is) I am trying to do a bit of self diagnosis. Car has 57000 on it.

Any advice would be helpful.
