last week I put my car up for sale privately and explained what make, model, mileage etc and gave detail of when it was last serviced and mot'ed and also said it runs fine. either way someone came round to see the car and from the advert alone he had already taxed himself on the car and insured himself a day before he had even come round to see the car. so when he came round with a friend and they both did a full inspection (interior, exterior, underneath, spare wheel and the engine) on the which took about 20 to 30 mins. we had to jump start the car because the battery was dead because i left it to stand for a few weeks due to having a new car and i changed the insurance over andas i am restricted to using one car on my policy. anyways he believed it to be because it was an old battery or the alternator was on its way out. just putting out there I am not a mechanic so i dont know a thing about repairing them so i leave it to a professional. either way I asked if that was a problem and they where both ok with it and said it wouldnt be a problem and soon as the car was running they took it for a test drive and where gone for about 20 minutes. when they got back the said it runs great and was happy with it. so we agreed it was sold as seen and we signed the v5c and he handed me the money and was pretty much happy to go. i just want to add at no point did i force him to buy the car and i was as honest as i could be as i believed the car to be working. anyways a week later i get a text from the guy i sold it to claiming it didnt have a valid mot which it does and I gave him proof, the was no jack in the boot and that the alternator was in his words f*cked and that i sold him a unroadworthy car. Now he is demanding a refund or it to be paid and repaired by me or he would take me to court. i could really do with helpful advice as its leaving me really uneven other it as am i in the wrong or should i stand my ground. thanks in advance
