Hi all,
I was recently involved in a road traffic accident that was my fault and am in the process of claiming. All has been going well so far, I got in today and had a letter from my insurance asking me to send my V5c certificate, service history etc. which is all fine I thought... until I checked my policy online and found I am insured for 12,000 miles per year, but I have actually done around 17.5k miles. I genuinely thought my insurance was for 17k miles (due for renewal shortly) as this is typically what I average. It is careless on my part and must have been a typo when I made the application, again completely my own fault for not checking this until now.
I am so worried now, the claims department are closed so I will be on the phone to them first thing in the morning when they open... can anybody shed any light as to where I stand now? Will they void my policy? Or will they just ask me to pay the additional fees to take my premium up to what it would have been had it been at 17k miles (which I'll more than happily do)?
Any guidance will be appreciated, it was a stupid but genuine error on my part and now I am worried sick and don't know what to do.
Thank you.
