Corsa Electrical Problems

Hi,

I have a 2002 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 with 100,000 miles. It's been a money pit since day one, with over £1,800 spent on repairs thus far, but it was a gift so has sentimental value. I'm in no way a car person, so please forgive my stupidity with this...

Timeline:
I've owned the car for 2 1/2 years. After about a week, the key fob stopped working. I replaced the battery, it worked for a week, it stopped again and I replaced it again. A week later, it stopped again.

6 months later, the steering wheel controls for the CD player stopped working.

6 months after that, the intermittent window wiper setting stopped working. The wipers only work on faster settings.

About a month later, the crankshaft sensor died. The car outright cut out on a 60mph road, uphill and I had to push it! Replaced the sensor and no issues since.

About 4 months back, the central locking stopped working, so now the key only opens the driver's side door. The boot sometimes doesn't lock and you can't lock it manually with the key.

Last night, the boot decided not to unlock. It won't open at all now and the key can't open it. Additionally, the oil and the battery light on the dash now come on when the ignition is off and the cabin fan turns on. I can't turn it off and the lights don't go out. I took it to be tested and the battery is fine and the alternators are good. It passed its MOT two weeks ago.

The CD player fuse blows every few months. The headlights and sidelights last appx 1 year each. I'm told that neither of these are normal.

I took it to a Vauxhall garage this evening but it was near closing so the sales team gave me advice - they said that it's almost certainly a sensor issue, probably multiple and that the electrical issues are connected. They said they'd get worse until the car stopped altogether and advised that if the sensor repair bill was going to come to more than £200, I should sell it for scrap for around £200. They suggested getting an equally old car for around £500 for the year. I need my car for work as my job involves driving actross Yorkshire to a different place each day. I can't replace the car as I'm moving to Australia in September next year for at least one year to work, and can't take on a bill whilst saving or whilst abroad on a car I won't be using. The idea was that I'd have it last until September and then sell it on or rent it to a friend.

Any ideas? I'd like to fix it, but if it's going to cost me a lot more money, I might not be able to. Do you think it's sensors? How much will the job cost, do you think?

Thanks.
