I'm at my whit's end with my car, approx 2months ago it developed which can only be described as a gearbox chattering noise, here is the scenario :
Turn car over, revving in neutral is fine
Engage first gear and pull away (chattering noise!)
Dip clutch it goes away.....
Engage 2nd (chattering noise comes back)
Dip clutch it goes away...
This now happens all the way through to 5th gear. (chattering noise gradually quietens down)
Replaced bottom engine mount last week (chattering noise still there)
Gearbox still chatters away and is normal (Odd times its stiff)
Clutch feels fine, power is normal, no clunking noises when turning, no brake wobble.
Bought some gearbox oil but dont know if this will stop the chattering noises!!
Please advise i'm really upset about this as it's my only form of transport and i'm on a budget to repair the car. If it's the gearbox thats broken i simply cannot afford to have it repaired. If its a simple fix i can :)
