Last night my wife's car suffered a catastrophic brake failure which left her stranded down a country lane on her own with very little battery life left on her phone. At 18:15 RAC said "within the hour" (ie by 19:15), 75 minutes later they said 21:15 at the earliest but agreed that she should be a priority case and someone would be there within 35 minutes (ie by 20:05), 45 minutes later they said 21:15 at the earliest. In the end it took my daughter, son-in-law and their dinner guests to recover my wife and her car. A group of individuals pulling together when a large conglomerate cannot provide a service FOR WHICH THEY ARE PAID!
1. Apart from one person, customer service were a complete joke who appeared to pluck timings out of the air.
2. Lone females I thought were supposed to get priority.
3. RAC did not keep my wife updated with revised timings and would have happily left her stranded for over 3 hours.
I have always stuck by the RAC because, unlike the AA, their focus is breakdown recovery. I doubt whether my wife will be renewing after this SHAMBOLIC EPISODE.
