As you all may know I have been struggling with my driving, it has been probably the worst time of my life as it has denied me several opportunities.
Okay so tonight I had a date with a female friend, but we had nowhere to go. I have my own car (even though I haven't passed)so I suggested she came over and we just sit in the car and listen to music. Thats what we did for 2 hours. Then I realised the time was getting late and I didn't want her to miss the last bus home, so I drove her to the top of the road (4 minute drive) and parked in sainsburys just to make sure she got on her bus okay, then I drove back home.
My mum and brother were shocked and overreacted (the police came, I was bitten and punched by my brother and had MY car keys taking off me by him) I said calm down, I know I shouldn't have driven but I'm a confident driver and it was to the top of the road to avoid my friend being stranded. I didn't really have any other option and to be honest I just wanted to drive my car for the first time in a month.
Anyway the police said I can have my brother arrested, I said no I don't want that I just want my keys back. The police said if i drive on my own they will take my car away and arrest me. I said fine I don't care because I've never done that before today and then they apologised because I said to them "Why am I getting in trouble for getting assaulted? the car isn't important" Also I admitted I did wrong but the overreaction was too much, I don't know what possessed my brother....I mean all the risk was on me, £1000 fine and a ban would be on ME, why would you assault me over that? Also my friend I was on a date on said I'm a good driver (not that it matters, what I did was illegal, but nobody was in danger and I would never ever have done it again)
I really want to pass my test, but I think it is causing so much hassle and drama. I just want to get rid of the car and think of other things.
What do you think of the situation?? Were the police fair? should I get rid of the car?
