I have been a member of the RAC since 2008, and at the time was with the camping and caravan club. As I wanted to ensure that I would be covered even if my caravan broke down i.e flat tyre, Arrival seemed like a good deal. So year in year out I paid my RAC arrival premiums. However I decided that as I very rarely go on camping and caravan club sites the £43 a year membership was a bit steep so I cancelled my membership.
Recently I saw and advert which said RAC arrival comes with Camping and caravan club membership, so I contacted them to 'yes please, I will take up this offer'.... Surprise - New customers only. However I was advised that if I didn't become a member of the Camping and caravan club that should my caravan break down it won't be covered!!!.
So basically if they quote you a price of say £250 (just a guess - not sure of new member) and you get free camping and caravan club membership worth £43 BE AWARE that after 12 months if you do not renew your camping and caravan club membership your caravan is NOT covered. Therefore the cost of Arrival RAC cover is really £293 a year with £43 discount for the first year.
This may be stated somewhere in the terms and conditions in size 4 font:-)
