First Accident - Roundabout Collision

Hi There,

I am new to the forum and new to accidents...

Unfortunately, yesterday morning on my way to work, I was involved in a low speed incident where a driver pulled out in front of me at a roundabout. I slammed on my brakes and beeped the horn, alas it was unavoidable.

My front left hand side hit his rear right corner, damage seemed superficial and just surface marks. We exchanged details and he admitted fault; however, he didn't want to go through insurance and wanted to pay for the damages at a garage of my choosing.

I said I needed time to think about it and went to my local garage to get the damage assessed. Turns out it's £1,800 and more serious than first thought. I got in contact with the other party and he agreed to go through insurance stating "we'll let the insurance investigate".

Subsequently, I called the police and filed the accident, also contacting the insurance with the series of events - they also state that the other driver appears to be at fault.

I am now very worried that he's going to go back on his word and try and wriggle his way out of it, after at first fully admitting fault for the accident. What is the likelihood, from the information I've given, that anything less than full blame will be on his part?

I may just be pessimistic, however any help calming my nerves would be greatly appreciated.
