Hi there. I have a vauxhall Meriva 2011 plate desiel Automatic after 8 years of having petrol cars. Naturally I knew the time would come when I accidentally wqent to misfuel. Now I did not actually start the pump but as I placed the nozzle into the hole a small amount dripped out, possibly and probably into the tank. Probably about enough to fill a shot glass or eggcup.
I put 15 pounds worth of desiel in after and drove on all day with no problems.
Is such a tiny amount likely to cause a problem? I have read stories of people who have put in £5 and had no problems and those who have put 90p in etc.
The pump never actually started for mine as I yanked it out as soon as I realized but as I say a small amount did fall out of the pump as it often does from the previous filler.
I understand its more of a problem with newer cars and mine is 2011.
Any help?
Regards,
Rob
