Hi everyone I have been driving one year and I am already on my second car, a peageot 206 with 80,000 on the clock. Basically my top camshaft broke and I had to replace the engine. It was replaced with one with 40,000 on the clock. Drove it halfway home only to realize the speedometer won't work. Drove it back to the garage only to be told that I should go back later. I did this, left the car there for an hour to receive a phone call saying the speedometer sensor was the problem, and that I should collect my car back from him and wait two days while he gets one from the scrapyard. I phoned the mechanic asking if I should just look for one myself only to be told that he will go this afternoon. I have since heard nothing from him a day later he said he would do this so I went there myself to look for one, but nobody was able to help me retrieve one from the car (don't take the p#ss, I genuinely am useless with mechanics). I know that the mechanic hasn't even bothered because I heard no correspondence from him since.
Basically I suspect I am dealing with a shady character because it seems odd that my speedometer just happens to stop working after this mechanic puts a new engine in..it worked completely fine before I broke down! Also it appears that this mechanic is trying to fob me off y saying he will do something, and then not do it. I do not know what to do..all of this is really starting to get on my t#t's now. Do any of you have any advice on what should be the next course of action?
