Good Evening all,
In February I had somebody hit my car. I had exited the round about and was in the right lane overtaking some slower traffic. I was hit in the left rear quarter panel by a car moving in to my lane. The girl I hit was really upset and a relatively new driver. I asked her if she wanted me to obtain a quote rather than go through her insurance, to which she agreed. Quote obtained of £1700 (ouch), she said she'd get back to me. She didn't, so I rang again and she told me to go through her insurer.
I duly contacted them and they said it sounded like a fault of their driver etc etc. However later on when I enquired about repairs I was told that they were now disputing liability as the girl had been contacted by the insurance company and had now said it was an incident on the roundabout.
I've then gone through my insurers who have been nothing short of bad. It's taken 4 days to sort a courtesy car as they don't do weekends and then another week and a half to collect my car, informing me at 07:30 on a Monday morning they'd be there to collect by 15:00.
I've had a number of calls to my insurance company in the first few days sending diagrams and images of where the damage has occurred on both vehicles. I was told it was with a handler and they would be in contact to obtain further details.
Cut to this week and they've advised they're going for 50/50. I'm furious as I've been driving 10 years with no issues.
They've not contacted me at all to speak with them. I've lost 3 days pay due to incompetence with the hire car/ damaged car collection that I've been told I can't claim due to it being a fault claim.
I'm massively not happy with the whole thing, where do I stand? Is it worth pursuing with the ombudsman? Do I make a fuss?
My renewal alone is up nearly £500.00 for something that's not my fault.
