Hi, I'm looking for some advice for my father. He returned to his car in a hospital car park to find a note on it saying he had caused damage to the car that had been parked next to him and they were going to the police. My dad had Mum with him and had done no such thing. My dad's car was parked in the space for only some of the time the other car was there. The police took no action and the insurance assessor says it coulfd of been my dad that had caused the damage as there is a scratch on his car. (there are a number as it's 10 years old). My dad's insurance company want him to accepy liability, but he doesn't want to as he didn't hit the car. What are his options, his insurance renewal has come through and they've increased his premium by 25%, despite him having full protected NCD. The insurance company don't seem to want to help him. Can he leave and go to another insurance company, will he have to declare this open claim? Thanks in advance!
