Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help with a problem I have. I am a taxi driver and I was recently driving back with 2 passengers in the car and while I was waiting in traffic a lady in a courtesy car went round my vehicle and clipped the back and side. The lady wasn't very co-operative at the scene of the accident and wouldn't provide her address or insurance details but she did provide details of the garage that the courtesy car was from. I reported the incident to my insurance (I own the vehicle), but this is now approx. 5 weeks ago and nothing seems to be happening. I received a letter from my insurance company originally stating that they are handling the claim but when I ring them to find out the situation they say that the driver of the vehicle hasn't reported the accident and that maybe I should have the damage repaired myself and then let them try to claim back the excess.
Can anyone advise if this seems to be what should happen? I was in no way to blame for the accident anf I have 2 passengers who will act as witnesses to state that my vehicle was stationary when it was hit. I'm sure that my premium will be affected if I put the claim through my own insurance (even though my NCB is protected) and I feel as though the 3rd party is just going to get away with this and that the insurance company are not really interested in pursing it.
Can anyone offer any advice please?
