Hi, I have an speeding query in which maybe someone could help me with.
Earlier on today at around 4am (6/5/16), I was traveling on the M1 towards London. I took exit 2 that lead on to the A406 towards central London. I assumed that the national speed limit applied on the A406 as the road still had three lanes plus a hard shoulder: also I didn't seem to come across any signs that said otherwise. With that assumption I stuck in and around the 65-72MPH mark. All of sudden I embarked upon a speed camera with a 50MPH Sign underneath, I didn't have enough time to respond to it and got flashed by a speed camera. I was going at 70, in the 50 zone! It was far to dark to spot the 50 sign and slow down in time to conform with it!
I am usually a very careful driver and have never been flashed for speed before. I am really worried an concerned about this? What does this mean for me? a fine? points? disqualification? How long will it take for me to be contacted about this? Do you think I have grounds to appeal?
