Hi all (sorry, title should say ABS light!)
I have a 2003 Focus 1.8 petrol. A couple of years ago I had the garbled mileage/trip LCD and did indeed remove the instrument cluster and spray it all up and has worked fine. For almost a year now I have had the ABS light flickering very randomly on and off... sometimes momentarily on and on and off, then stays on for minutes, then off even for a whole journey. I have twice removed the cluster, exposed the back of the PCD, cleaned and sprayed. I haven't taken the actual dials off to get to the front of the board.
Yesterday, with MOT approaching I decided to check this was not a fault actually from the wheels as I had read about decayed wiring. When I removed the front nearside wheel, I can see a block connector in the wheel arch. I decided to wiggle this, and the next thing I have all the electric windows going down! No keys in the ignition! I can't see an obvious fault but the wiring goes up into the arch and is shielded in plastic. I've not had any random electrical issues before this, only the ABS light.
Am I on the right track? I'm not very good mechanically... Could this be as simple as the bad earth under the battery/air filter I've also read about? Thanks for any help.
