Selling a car with no road tax

Hey, I'd like to sell my car which currently has no road tax as it is declared SORN... But I'm assuming a new buyer would want to do a test drive!? so is there anyway it can be made legal for a short test drive or do i have to buy tax in order for this to be possible?
